Top Bodybuilders Of The 2000's

Top Bodybuilders Of The 2000's

You may have seen my post from earlier this year about the best bodybuilders of the 1990s. Dorian Yates beat out Flex Wheeler and Ronnie Coleman for the most read article. In the 2000s, there were several monsters in large numbers. The increased levels of HGH and insulin were a major factor in this. In addition to their waistlines expanding to unimaginable sizes, muscle bellies did as well. The days of 200-pound bodybuilders were largely over.  Because several of the best bodybuilders of the 2000s are among my all-time favorites, it was difficult for me to rate them; I had to set aside my feelings in order to do so.

01. Ronnie Coleman

Nobody has put together a bundle quite like Mr. Coleman's, which is the G.O.A.T. His chest, legs, arms, and back rank among the best in history. Ronnie will always be the greatest of all time, even though I prefer his appearance from the 1990s to his early 2000s body weight of about 300 pounds. Largest Win: Eight Times Mr. Olympia, holder of the IFBB Pro record for most victories.

02. Jay Cutler

- The fourth Despite frequently serving as Ronnie's bridesmaid, Mr. Olympia did receive his due in 2006. Jay has nice quads but a blocky waist. From 2001 until 2011, Jay had a run of winning or placing second in events. Major victories: four times Mr. Olympia.

03. Dexter Jackson

- The "Blade" is one of my all-time favorite bodybuilders. Early in the 1990s, Dexter began competing at the bantam weight class. He was around 240 pounds when he competed in the last Mr. Olympia. This man has put on approximately 100 pounds of muscle in the last 20 years. The Blade consistently shows up in excellent shape and has placed in the top 10 in each professional contest he has competed in. Best victory: the 2008 Mr. Olympia.

04. Chris Cormier

The "Real Deal" had a lengthy bodybuilding career and an impressive 30 first- or second-place finishes. Chris came close to winning the Mr. Olympia and Arnold Classic several times, but he never won. Too many to count as my biggest victory.

05.Victor Martinez

As of 2017, Victor is still competing in bodybuilding. Victor, who has superb physique and a small waist, came extremely close to unseating Jay Cutler in 2007. Arnold Classic in 2007, largest victory.

06.Gustavo Badell

- The "Freakin' Rican" challenged the greats in the middle of the 2000s, emerging out of nowhere. Gustavo astonished the world by placing third in the Mr. Olympia in 2004 after placing 24th in his last attempt. When Gustavo was in shape, he had excellent proportions. Ironman Pro 2005, biggest victory.

07. Gunter Schlierkamp

The best tall bodybuilder in the 21st century was Gunter. Gunter was about 300 pounds and 6 feet tall. Known for having small waist and broad arms. In 2002, Gunter astonished everyone by defeating Ronnie Coleman to win the GNC Show of Strength. 2002 GNC Show of Strength, largest victory.

08. Phil Heath

Phil was one person I really didn't want to put on this list. Although he is undoubtedly the top bodybuilder of the 2010s, after reviewing his 2000s résumé, I felt compelled to include him. One of the most genetically gifted bodybuilders in history is Phil. He has some of the greatest abs since Flex Wheeler. New York Pro (2006): The biggest victory of the 2000s.

09. Branch Warren

I was covering the contests at the 2005 Charlotte Pro Show when I saw Branch Warren on the stage. Branch and I had previously met at the Arnold Classic, but I had no idea how bizarre the man was. Branch is a traditional bodybuilder who possesses some of Tom Platz's best legs. Branch consistently adds conditioning that is gritty. New York Pro (2007): The biggest victory of the 2000s.

10. Lee Priest

Where to put Lee in my list was a really difficult decision for me. I had a small urge to rank him #4. Because of his Mr. Olympia results, I chose #8. Lee has some of the best arms in the industry and is the greatest short bodybuilder of all time (no offense to Flex Lewis). In addition, Lee is well-known for gaining an amazing amount of weight (200 lbs) before dieting to get into contest condition. Largest victory: 2005
